A duo based in NYC, Dead Prez are known for their anti-government lyrics and revolutionary songs.
They often rhyme about the People's Army, vegetarianism, black power, overthrowing politicians, and the I-Ching.
Their 2000 debut, "Let's Get Free," featured the breakout hit "It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop."
In 2001, they teamed up with West Coast counterparts the Coup for the track "5 Million Ways To Kill a CEO."
In 2003, Dead Prez were arrested during a photo shoot in N.Y.C. The group claimed they were unfairly targeted and assaulted.
