Born on July 7, 1932 in Vienna, Austria Joe Zawinul became one of the most innovative jazz composers and pianists. Having had a classical training in his home Vienna, the artist developed an appetite for jazz and moved to America to attend the Berkeley College of Music. In the 50’s-60’s he collaborated and played for Maynard Ferguson, Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderley and Miles Davis. He gradually became a dominant force in the electronic jazz movement, popularizing the Fender-Rhodes and Wurlitzer sounds. One of his recent releases was the 2002 LP “Faces & Places”.
