Jaco Pastorius

Born on December 1, 1951 in Norristown, PA, Jaco Pastorius rose to fame as one of the most influential bass players, with his recognizable fretless sound and virtuoso performances becoming a trademark. In 1974 the young Pastorius began playing with another up and coming meteor, guitarist Pat Metheny. Two years later he was invited to join the fusion act Weather Report, where he soon became a prominent member. In that same year he released his acclaimed self-titled solo debut. In the mid 80’s he was overcome by psychological problems, which led to substance abuse and to his untimely death.
